    eScholar visits downtown Bethesda once again for the 2011 National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) STATS-DC Conference.  The conference held over 100 presentations and demonstrations and offered great networking experiences and information and updates on data and reporting in education.  eScholar and its customers gave a number of presentations which included Interstate Mobility, A New York State Data Model Approach for Teacher Evaluation and Instructional Improvement, Using Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) Data to Gain Insight on Individual Education Outcomes, and District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education Implements Unique Student Indentifier System.  eScholar Founder, Shawn Bay, partnered with Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council President and CEO, Michael Sessa, to deliver a session on Standardizing the Standards.  This year's keynote speakers included the NCES Commissioner Jack Buckley and U.S. Department of Education Chief Privacy Officer, Kathleen Styles.  The conference is designed for education researchers, policymakers and the data system managers from all levels of government who want to share innovations in the design and implementation of education data collections and informations systems and to provide insight and comment on technical and policy issues related to the collection, maintenance, and use of education data.

    eScholar visited the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin, Texas, to attend the 24th Annual National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Management Information Systems Conference.  The 3 day "Deep in the Heart of Data" conference offered 125 presentation and workshops by practitioners about management information systems for K-12 education.  eScholar and its customers conducted 16 presentations of which included Mobility and Identification-Solving the Interstate Problem, Leveraging Technology Toward EDEN Compliance and Building an Effective Workforce Using a P-20/W SLDS.  This year's keynote speakers included NCES Commissioner Jack Buckley and NCES Chief Statistician Marilyn Seastrom.  Additional keynotes were given by Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Robert Scott and TEA Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration, Adam Jones.  The conference brings the education community together to discuss information collection, management, transmittal, and reporting in school districts and state education agencies.

    eScholar visits Bethesda once more for the National Center of Education Statistics' annual Summer Data Conference.  This conference enables state and local educators, members of government agencies, and others to share information about developments and issues in the collection, reporting, and use of education data.  Arne Duncan, Secretary of Education, delivered a keynote speech focused on the Department of Education's commitment to using robust data systems to inform education reform.  Other keynote speakers included Stuart Kerachsky, Acting Commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics, and John Q. Easton, Director of the Institute of Education Sciences, appointed by President Obama.  The conference was held at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda lasting 3 days providing attendees with information on professional networking, updates on federal and national activities affecting data collection and reporting, and information regarding the top new approaches in collection, reporting and using education statistics.
